RACHES is a great spot to work on those freestyle skills or go exploring the enclosed gulf all the way over to Northern Evia and back. The peninsula forms a perfect barrier for those low gusts, making one side flat and the other more wavy. This is also home to the Raches Kite Festival – considered one of the country’s top kitesurfing meets.
Follow the National Road towards Stylida and exit at the small village of Raches. Once there follow the coastal road West towards the peninsula.
If you can hire a boat, or get those thighs pumping, make sure to check out Lichadonisia on the coast of Northern Evia, across the bay.
Raches works with Easterlies mostly, but has been known to deliver the goods with a decent Westerly too.
LEARNING / RENTING
If you feel like having a lesson or just need to rent some gear – the local kite shop and school Raches Faros Kite Club will help you get set up for sure. Just talk to Giorgos.
